Abstract

The Collins model is generalised to a two-dimensional alternative binary system and the Gibbs free energy of the system is calculated. According to the equations obtained which determine the solid-liquid equilibrium curves, three simple types of phase diagrams are calculated. They are the 'cigar-type' phase diagram, the phase diagram with a minimum (or a maximum) and the phase diagram with a eutectic point. The results show that the percentage of 4-atoms obviously has an influence on the phase diagrams. These results are quite analogous to the behaviour of the three-dimensional substances.
