Abstract

The Sultanate of Oman is located in the south-eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula. This chapter demonstrates that higher education internationalisation has benefited the Caledonian College of Engineering; its strong international affiliation and long-standing partnerships have paved the way for its recognition as a fully accredited higher education institution (HEI) by the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority, thus becoming a role model for other Omani HEIs. The staff learning that has taken place during the internationalisation process, has immensely supported the college in the development of its own programmes and systems at all levels and in becoming the core of the National University of Science and Technology in Oman. The college’s approach to curriculum development is governed by policies and procedures detailed in the Quality Enhancement and Assurance Manual, which includes procedures for developing, monitoring, and reviewing academic programmes. The college’s centralised Quality Assurance department oversees the entire process to ensure consistency and adherence to the local and international regulatory bodies.
