Abstract
Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is particularly useful in teasing apart the contrasting contributions of different anatomical and functional systems in particular aspects of behaviour, for example the involvement of the dorsal and ventral visual streams in tasks involving the perception of distance, shape and colour. A previous study (Ellison & Cowey, 2006) demonstrated that the ventral stream is important for discriminations requiring processing of the shape of 2-dimensional figures presented in the frontal plane.
