Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of vitrectomy in severe ocular trauma.Methods A retrospective analysis of the clinical data about 31 eyes of 31 cases with severe ocular trauma,in which 26 cases accepted the initial debridement and suture operation in our hospital and 5 case in other hospital.And all of the 31 cases accepted secondary-stage operation of vitrectomy.The time between injure and vitrectomy was 5 cases within 7 days,18 cases within 7-14 days,6 cases within 15-30 days,and 2 cases more than 30 days.The manner of the surgery was determined by the condition of the injured eye.The follow-up period was more than 6 months.Results 1 case received vitrectomy and eyeball enucleation.2 cases couldn' t receive reconstruction of eyeball and were lost to eyeball shrink.5 cases received reconstruction of eyeball and got silicone oil tamponade,however failed to maintain the shape of eyeball.And 23 cases got silicone oil tamponade and obtained successful reconstruction of eyeball.Conclusion It' s cannot be repositioned of the eye that the whole circle of ciliary body is detachment.It' s indication of eyeball atrophy or silicone oil dependent that the ciliary body is broken or lost more than one quadrant of the eye,choroidal detachment associated with wide range of eyeball injury and panretinal detachment (closed funnel-shaped or rope-like).And vitreous surgery is necessary for severe ocular trauma.
