Abstract

1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol (1,25-(OH)2 D3) is the most active metabolite of vitamin D3 yet known (5, 4) and the chemically synthesized material has recently become available for clinical use. After first confirming its identity using high speed liquid chromatography, we studied the effects of oral administration in two main clinical settings: hypoparathyroidism and chronic renal failure.
