Abstract
CD138, called syndecan-1, is a heparan sulphate proteoglycan which is known as one of cell adhesion molecules. It has been considered that CD138 is strongly expressed on multiple myeloma cells. However expression of CD138 is reduced in some patients during their clinical courses. To clarify the clinical significance of this phenomenon, we evaluated correlation between CD138 expression levels by flow cytometry and data in our institution.
