Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical results of heparin-surface-modified ( HSM) PMMA intraoular lens (IOL) implanted in uveitis complicated cataract. Methods The phacoemulsification was performed in 146 eyes of 98 cases of uveitis complicated cataract.HSM-IOL was implanted in 56 cases (98 eyes) and PMMA-IOL in 42 cases (48 eyes). The postoperative visual acuity, anterior chamber reaction and posterior capsular opacity (PCO) were analyzed retrospectively between the two groups. Results The best corrected visual acuity higher than 0.5 were in 86 eyes of HSM groups(87.76% ) and in 27 eyes of PMMA groups (56.52%),there was significant difference between the two groups ( P < 0.05 ).There were significant difference(P <0.05) in fibrinous exudate and aqueous cells in 1 week after operation, and significant difference (P <0.05 ) in posterior synechia of iris in 6 month. There was significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05) in PCO 6 months postoperatively (P<0.05).Conclusion HSM-IOL implantation can reduce the postoperative reaction in anterior segment of eyeball, and decrease the occurrance of PCO.
