Abstract

The reaction of the octahedral dianion [Ru 6(CO) 18] 2− with trifluoromethanesulphonic (triflic) anhydride [(CF 3SO 2) 2O] quantitatively yields the neutral carbido-cluster [Ru 6C(CO) 17] as a result of the cleavage of a coordinated carbonyl ligand.
