Abstract

SUMMARY I have examined the « cleaning brush » of Damon diadema Simon, 1876 and of Phrynichus jayakari Pocock, 1894 (Amblypygi Arachnida) under scanning electron microscopy. Two rows of modified hairs surround a granular area made up of numerous scale-like structures; in the middle of the latter are round structures that resemble the « coeloconic pegs » of Insects. Near the apex of the granular area is a large opening of unknown significance.
