Abstract

The special relativistic equations of motion of point particles interacting with neutral scalar or vector meson fields are redetermined by applying a method originally developed by Infeld and Wallace for the electromagnetic case, which is based on the linearized equations of general relativity. This method, which is free of ambiguity, leads to the equations obtained previously by several authors by the method originated by Dirac in electrodynamics, but differs from some of the results of Majumdar and Apte, who used a simplified version of the Infeld-Wallace method, which did not have recourse to general relativity.
