Abstract

An analysis of the design and construction problems plaguing the Modern Art Museum of Turin, constructed in 1959: rainwater penetration of the lighting fixtures, smog penetration, the progressive peeling of mosaic tesserae, dangerous fluctuations of temperature, inadequate facilities for storage, etc. The museum must be almost completely reconstructed from within to correct these problems and meet current safety standards. -- ICCROM
