Abstract

The new Iraqi constitution has been approved by the general referendum in 15th of October 2005 to deal with many complicated issues; citizenship in Iraq was one of the most important issues that took a very wide area in the discussions hold by Iraqi legislators and constitutional low experts with a direct support from some experts of the international community. The heavy heritage of ethno-religious politics and the consequences of the long ethno-religious conflict in Iraq need careful ideas to rebuild the trust among the various ethnic and religious groups.
