:Although notably neglected in critical discussions, and overshadowed by Miami Vice's soundtrack impact, Northern Exposure significantly advanced the television music aesthetic. This essay revisits Northern Exposure 25 years later, and reflects on its distinct musical approach, its impressive scope of songs, styles, and synthesis, and its sustaining influence.
