Abstract

On the occasion of the cases of sexual abuse of minors by clerics, which have shaken the church, the article explains the principles of the church's criminal law and emphasizes, for ecclesiological and canonical reasons, the priority and the necessity of an ecclesiastical criminal law clarification. The author then deals with the sexual offences in canon law and describes the criminal proceedings concerning the current and partly new universal and particular canon law, which is critically evaluated with regard to the cooperation with state prosecution authorities, public and lay participation.
