Abstract

Abstract Use of organic hydroxamic acids for detection and separation of metals by circular paper chromatography was successfully applied to various metals. Salicylhydroxamic acid in the presence of isopropyl and isobutyl alcohols was found to give the best results. No developer to process the chromatograms is necessary because the metal hydroxamic acid complexes separate as distinctly colored bands.
