Abstract

There is a need to develop a suitably charged thermostatic expansion valve to work with systems charged with HFC134a. The conventional CFC12 cross-charged valve does work, but with a slight loss of superheat sensitivity. A pure HFC134a charged valve lacks a constant superheat over a range of evaporator temperatures, and may require a smaller orifice size than the conventional cross-charged valve.
