Ore bodies are associated spatially and genetically with the Penshan, Chiufen, and Wutanshan dacites of Pleistocene age (Figure 1). Official records indicate that 63 tons of gold and 119,101 tons of copper were produced at Penshan, 24 tons of gold at Chiufen, and 5 tons of gold at Wutanshan; however unofficial estimates of gold production are considerably greater.
