Abstract

China Dream, as a political slogan raised by the new central leadership of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), is currently one of the hottest topics in domestic China. Contrary to the rhetoric preaching, the oppressive political system, the deteriorating legal environment and the authoritarian governance of China were deeply analyzed and the Chinese public’s common dreams were truthfully revealed from a different viewpoint in this article. The reasoning suggests that without effectively defending democracy and fundamental human rights, China Dream will become only the party’s political fantasy or the populace’s unrealizable desires and it is not the communist principle but the universal values that represent the general public’s ideal.
