Abstract

During the five years from July 1, 1965, through June 30, 1970, a total of 247 patients with molar pregnancy and gestational trophoblastic disease were treated at the New England Trophoblastic Disease Center, Boston. Of this number, 160 were treated, for uncomplicated molar pregnancy and 87 for trophoblastic disease. A new therapeutic classification based on histology, duration of disease, initial gonadotropin level prior to commencement of therapy, extent and nature of metastases, and outcome is proposed to guide the clinician in diagnosis and management.
