Abstract
AbstractThe formation of transition‐metal ion (M+Fe+, CO+, Ni+ and Mn+) complexes with cyclohexylamine (1) in a modified fast‐atom bombardment (FAB) source, and the reactions of various ion/molecule complexes, have been studied by FAB MASS spectrometry combined with metastable ion and collisional activation techniques. Multiples dehydrogenations to produce [(aniline)·M]+ and consecutive [2H2+NH3] elimination to afford [(benzene)·M]+ from 1 prevail for all the metal ions studied. Furthermore, [(1)·][Ni]+ and [(1)2·Co]+ ions underwent an unusual NH3 loss. Relative reactivities of the metal ions and complicated ligand effects are presented.
