Abstract

Detrital chromian spinel is a key mineral in paleogeographic reconstructions. The chemical compositions of the spinels provide even more specific information about their host ophiolites because their chemistry is related to the degree of melting of the mantle peridotite and thus to the geotectonic environment of ocean crust formation.
