Abstract
A general approach has been developed to accomplish double condensation of benzotriazole and glyoxal with amines and subsequent replacement of the benzotriazole moieties by hydrogen, aryl, or alkyl groups. In this way, various symmetrical vicinal tertiary and secondary amines were prepared in good yields. The particularly mild reaction conditions, simple procedure, easily available starting materials, and good yields offer considerable advantages over those previously applied for these purposes
