Abstract

1. 1. The amino acid and carbohydrate analysis of a protein extracted from urinary casts has been performed. The protein is associated with a small amount of lipid and would appear to be indistinguishable from the Tamm and Horsfall glycoprotein of normal human urine. 2. 2. Electron microscopy of the protein extracted from casts before and after treatment with sodium dodecyl sulphate has been performed. The appearances indicate an organised linear array of subunits that is disrupted by sodium dodecyl sulphate.
