Abstract
The characterization of strain S with electric field E was studied for [Pbx(Ba, Sr)1-x]4(Na0.88Li0.12)2Nb10O30, x=0.64 (abbr. PBNN) piezoelectric ceramic with the tungsten bronze (TB) structure. It was shown that the PBNN possessed excellent linearity of S vs E, and at a low electric field range there was not a threshold field Eb existed, which was an inherent feature for lead zirconate titanate (PZT) system ceramics with peroveskite structure to start producing irreversible motion of 90° domain wall. However, it was found that at a high electric field E about 350 V/mm, a slight increment in the slope rate of the S vs E (that is the piezoelectric coefficient d33 or d31) which is difficult to detect, appeared in the curve of S and E. The characterization of S with E for PBNN ceramic, which ferroelectric phase was a pseudo-orthorhombic belonging to the uniaxis ferroelectrics, was discussed, according to constructed mechanism and influence of two sorts of 90° domain.
