Abstract
In the marine electric propulsion system (MEPS), the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) produces low frequency noise due to vibration, which has a bad effect on the crew and the ship. By studying the radial electromagnetic force (REF) which is the noise source of PMSM, the mathematical model of REF and the mechanical vibration characteristic equation are established. The effect of REF and different slot/pole combination for PMSM on the noise frequency is analyzed, and the resonance frequency of PMSM is determined. A field test of marine PMSM is carried out to verify the correctness of the established mathematical model. Meanwhile, the spectrum characteristics of PMSM under normal operation conditions are obtained and the characteristic frequency range is calibrated. Through the above research, it provides a reference for the selection of PMSM parameters such as working frequency and control frequency, and can be used for fault diagnosis of PMSM.
