Abstract

of fungi support the contention that there is a persistent fungus population in each of these lakes. The greater number of species found in Flathead Lake is in keeping with its larger size, if not with the usual oligotrophic designation for this lake. If size of population correlates with eutrophism and oligotrophism, Rogers Lake should have a much larger fungus population than was found by these studies. It is suggested, therefore, that this limnological classification is not necessarily definitive for the occurrence of fungus species.
