Abstract

Summary There have been significant and dramatic changes in the nature of scientific and technical librarianship in the past four decades, reflected both in the structure and organization of literature and the education and professional training of librarians. These changes are reflected in graduate library school curricula as well as in the skills and abilities needed by professional librarians. Library schools and library administrators share responsibility for providing a fertile and stimulating environment for today's and tomorrow's scientific and technical librarians.
