Abstract

The Berlin wall has fallen and European Union has formed. Yet there are many on going civil wars within national boundaries and a few inter-nation wars continue. The world financial crisis is getting worse. Natural disasters are challenging human capabilities. In this paper I will remind you the crisis we are facing and the road ahead which is full of threats. In the essay “We should turn the slogan from “YES we can” to “YES we did”, I will discuss main geopolitical issues that we faced and facing. Many businesses are aware of the controversial environment, that they are conducting operations. But every one of them is not brave enough or capable enough to make a change. There are 25,000 people who die every day due to hunger or hunger-related causes and poverty continues to increase. However arms business continues to makes a fortune. I will also discuss the Sri Lankan civil war disaster which I have experienced from my childhood and its negative impacts on country’s economy. The motivation created by the President Obama with his campaign “YES we can” is hopefully be a starting point. But the time has come to join hands with every business whether it is multinational or domestic, private or public to say “YES we did.”
