Abstract

Abstract Contemporary society provides much-needed materials to the study of pluralism. While English pluralism merely provides formalistic criticisms of established legal theory, it also outlines a framework for new legal thinking. This article, by adopting a new pluralistic and empirical approach, presents a systemic introduction to the recent changes of the Mayor’s and City of London Court, one English civil court in a metropolitan commercial location. This distinctive approach and case study illustrate the sociological interpretation of legal reform and legal ideas. As asserted, the rethinking of the concept of law and court needs to take account of new forms of legal pluralism.
