Abstract

As an important part of power system, zinc oxide arrester plays an indispensable role in limiting the over-voltage and lightning protection of power system. Frequent lightning strikes in nature will affect the performance of ZnO arresters, and thus affect the safe and stable operation of the whole power system. Therefore, it is important to study the DC parameters of ZnO arresters under lightning stroke to judge the aging state of zinc oxide arrester. This paper establishes a continuous single heavy lightning test platform, simulates the state of zinc oxide arrester subjected to continuous lightning stroke, and obtains the DC parameter change of 35kV zinc oxide arrester under the influence of continuous lightning stroke. The results show that after 50 continuous single heavy lightning strikes, the leakage current of 35kV zinc oxide arrester increases by 70% and U1mA decreases by 7.72%. It is concluded that the arrester is aging seriously and the insulation state is getting worse and worse.
