Abstract

Objective To investigate the change and its significance of glycosylated hemoglobin(GHbA1c)in patients with pulmonary tubervulosis during initial anti-tuberculosis treatment. Methods The data of 347 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis in our institution from January 2007 to October 2008 were retrospectively analyzed. The relationship between the level of GHbAlc and the change of pathogenetic condition before antituberculosis treatment and two months and four months after anti-tuberculosis treatment were studied. Results The results showed that the level of GHbAlc before treatment were higher than those after two months and four months'treatment, but there were no statistically significance at second month(P>0.05),until the fourth month(P<0.001).In the patients without diabetes mellitus, the level of GHbAlc also was significant difference at various treatment stages(P<0.01,P<0.001)in the patients with diabetes, the level of GHbAlc decreased significantly after four moths treatment(P<0.001).With the progress of treatment, the increased GHbAlc concentration gradually returned to normal. Conclusion GHbAlc is closely related with tubervulosis disease. With the continuation of the course, elevated GHbAlc is decreasing. Key words: Tuberculosis; Anti-tuberculosis treatment; GHbA1c
