I offer a belated Christmas present: the chance to sit in on a chat with Dr. Suresh Kannan, an anesthesiologist who specializes in chronic pain. Dr. Kannan has practiced medicine in India and Barbados and is a bastion of professionalism, integrity, and medical knowledge. Based on several conversations with readers that I had at the ASA annual meeting, I want to add one important note. Being an “expert” is in the eye of the beholder, and almost every single ASA member has valuable wisdom/expertise to share with colleagues, regardless of being an academic or private practitioner, or having a lengthy CV.
