Abstract

The C theorem corresponding to the spin 2 spectral function in the energy-momentum tensor Green function in n > 2 dimensions is derived. In four dimensions, renormalisation group methods are used to relate this C F function to the coefficient β a( g) of the F term in the curved space conformal anomaly, where F is the square of the Weyl tensor. This complements the recent formulation of the 4D C F theorem, where C F (g) is characterised by the spin 0 spectral function and related to the R 2 term in the conformal anomaly. The potential application of the C F theorem to dynamical symmetry breaking is briefly discussed.
