Abstract

In 1994, the Caux Round Table in Switzerland developed what is believed to be the first international code of business ethics. Business leaders from Japan, Europe and the United States collaborated to create a set of principles rooted in two basic ideals: kyosei and human dignity. Because of its importance and its applicability to the conduct of today's health care businesses, this entire column is devoted to reprinting these "Principles for Business."
