Abstract

One of the main problems of the Russian government's economic policy was a lack of a proper understanding of the processes that began in the economy in 1992 after the liberalization of prices, the introduction of a uniform currency exchange rate, and the liberalization of foreign trade. As a result, the standard and generally correct recommendations of the International Monetary Fund to reform the economy were implemented without considering the specific features of Russia, which, in our opinion, was to a significant extent a condition of the failure of liberal reforms, as well as the current economic crisis.
