Abstract

Objective To analyze the causes of fixed intraocular lens(IOL)pupillary capture after the operation of traumatic cataract in children and investigate the effective methods to reposit intraocular lens. Methods Ten eyes(10 cases)with fixed intrancular lens pnpillary capture after traumatic cataract operation under 14 years old.were analyzed based on clinical data;the posterior iris synechia was separated and the posterior capsulotomy and IOL reposition were performed in 10 eyes.Anterior vitrectomy was combined in all cases.IOL were exchanged in 5 eyes. Results Severe posterior syneehia of iris with posterior capsule was separated completely.Posterior capsulotomy and the IOL repositinn were successfully performed in all 10 cases. The anterior vitrectomy was also performed in all eases. The visual acuity in all cases was improved in different extent. Conclusions Fixed pupillary capture of IOL is the common complication after traumatic cataract surgery in children.Severe postoperative uveal tract reaction, secondary cataract and lens cortex regeneration are the major causes of IOL pupillary capture. The intraocular lens could be reposited through iris synechia separation, regenerated lens cortex cleaning and secondary cataract extraction.
