The cause and treatment of drug - resistant tuberculosis

Abstract

Objective To analyse the cause of drug - resistant tuberculosis and the effects of levofloxacin on the treatment of drug - resistant pulmonary tuberculosis. Methods One hundred and forty - two cases with drug - resistant tuber-culosis and the treat effects of levofloxacin in drug - resistant tuberculosis were retrospectively analyzed. Results One hun-dred and forty- two cases with drug- resistant tuberculosis were as follows: INH- resistant in 26, RFP- resistant in 12,re-sistant to RFP and SM in 10,resistant to INH and RFP in 34,resistant to INH,SM and EMB in 12, resistant to INH,RFP and EMB in 14, resistant to INH, RFP and SM in 34. The reasons for drug -resistant in 142 cases were as follows: 56 cases were due to improper treatment, 32 cases were due to stopping medical treatment,20 cases were due to the side -effect of drugs,and 34 cases were due to iatrogenic reason. The therapeutic group which contain levofloxacin,the symptoms of 62 cases were disappeared; the tuberculosis focus were ab-sorbed obviously in 58 cases;the rate of negative in sputum reached 65%. It had significantly different compare without con-tain levofloxacin(P <0.05). Conclusions The doctor,patient and drug factors play an important roles in producing drug -resistanting,and the levofloxacin plays an important role on the treatment of drug - resistant pulmonary tuberculosis.
