Abstract

The law 477/1973 was approved in a moment in which the Italian catholic society was facing a hard inner crisis, emerged in the post-Council season: the Catholic Action, the Italian catholic laity biggest aggregation, suffered a drastic drop in affiliations and its choice to give up the political side mobilisation was subject of incomprehensions and conflicts, that divided catholic people into tendencies, both expressions of different ways to live their faith witness and of different political positions. The collegial boards elections made evident these cleavages also in school.
