Abstract

The catalytic properties of laminar compounds of graphite (LCG) with transition metals, treated with different amounts of K, were investigated in the synthesis of hydrocarbons from CO and H/sub 2/. LCG with Co, Ru, Fe, Os, Mn, Cr, Ni, Cu, Pt, and Pd, treated with K, were all found to catalyze the synthesis of hydrocarbons. The yield of hydrocarbons was most pronounced for compounds of Co, Ru, Fe, Os, and Mn. As the K : transition metal ratio increases, an increase in the catalytic activity of the LCG with Co, Mn, and Fe was noted. (BLM)
