Abstract
This play, written shortly before his marriage in 1917, was first published in 1924, and performed at the Abbey Theatre on 21 September 1931 (though Yeats gives the date as 9 May 1926), with the following cast: Blind Man, Michael J. Dolan; Lame Man, W. O’Gorman; Singer, Joseph O’Neill; Flautist, T. Browne; Zither, Julie Gray; Drum, Muriel Kelly. The play was printed in The Criterion, July 1924, and in The Dial, July 1924; subsequently in The Cat and the Moon and Certain Poems, Dublin, 1914; Wheels and Butterflies, London, 1934; New York, 1935; The Collected Plays of W.
