Abstract

Nevus of Ota is a hamartoma of dermal melanocytes which was first defined as an entity by Ota and Tanino in 1939. This condition presents as a brown, blue, or gray patch on the face with in the distribution of the ophthalmic and maxillary divisions of the trigeminal nerve. Nevus of Ota is infrequent in the Indian population and its intraoral involvement is quite rare. We present a case of nevus of Ota in a 26-year-old female patient with palatal and scleral involvement. This report emphasizes on the clinical aspects, malignant transformation, differential diagnosis, histological aspects, and the management of this rare condition.
