Abstract

A 63-year-old man with end-stage kidney disease secondary to atrophic right kidney and type 2 diabetes mellitus received a living-related kidney allograft from his sister. Induction therapy included thymoglobulin, and maintenance immunosuppression consisted of tacrolimus and mycophenolate mofetil. The early post-transplant course was complicated by 2 episodes of acute kidney injury, occurring at 2 and 8 months after transplantation, where allograft biopsies showed tubular degenerative changes consistent with acute tubular injury.
