Abstract

The narrative of With Raised Hands is not governed according to the principles of verisimilitude, which is the presumed default mode of most Holocaust films. Rather, this film follows a narrative logic that is more akin to cartoon narratives. The 'Holocaust comedies' of the 1990s operate in a similar fashion.
