Abstract

The Caregiver Empowerment Project sought to empower communities to foster and strengthen a sense of competence and control among their family caregivers of older adults wing in rural areas. Under the guidance of the project coordinator and steering committee, three community models for assisting caregivers developed: (1) community education model; (2) social support model; and (3) support group model. The type of project implemented in each area evolved as a result of the needs and resources of lhe individual faith community.
