Abstract

Purpose: Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is in many cases the first clinical manifestation of coronary artery disease [ [1] Hayashi M. Shimizu W. Albert C.M. The spectrum of epidemiology underlying sudden cardiac death. Circ Res. 2015; 116: 1887-1906 Crossref PubMed Scopus (360) Google Scholar ]. Despite enormous efforts directed at improving the acute management of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) and reinforcing the subsequent links of the chain of survival, it remains a leading cause of death and disability with a huge human, social and economic impact. Our purpose is to suggest an integrated strategy to include cardiovascular rehabilitation and prevention in the chain of survival and help to prevent new-onset and subsequent OHCA.
