Abstract

The Pd complex immobilized on the functionalized polymeric support was prepared by the functionalization of the 4‐(benzyloxy)benzyl chloride polymer with 5‐phenyl‐1‐H‐tetrazole and the subsequent complexation with PdCl2. Then, it was characterized with different methods and used as catalyst in the green benzylation reaction of various aryl cyanamides with benzyl bromide and K2CO3 in EtOH at 60°C for the appropriate times. Also, the antibacterial properties of the Pd polymer‐supported complex were studied against a number of gram‐positive and gram‐negative bacteria, and in some cases, it has the same effect as a tetracycline standard antibiotic against Bacillus thuringiensis (a gram‐positive bacterium) and Serratia marcescens (a gram‐negative bacterium).
