Abstract
When Francois and Monique invited me to speak on the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) contributions to our understanding of the ‘Cosmic Connection’ revealed by galaxy evolution, I worried that this far reaching topic would make it nearly impossible to exclude anything done at the CFHT over the twenty years elapsed since its inauguration. I was much reassured when they suggested that I could speculate on future contributions, about which nothing needs to be excluded since nothing is of course known. I am thus at liberty to reminisce about the gestation of the CFHT, brush a broad outline of its multifaceted and important scientific contributions, and indulge into visions where it can still take its community of users.
