Abstract

This paper is trying to focus on a few aspects on the figure of the Disciple of Christ in the Gospel of St. Mark. Since the beginning of his public activity, Jesus Christ wanted to be accompanied by disciples. They followed the Saviour and were witnesses to his wonderful words and deeds. After attending the school of Jesus, they were sent to continue the work of spreading God’s Kingdom and the Gospel. With respect to the presentation of the theme, after some general elements, we will analyse two texts from the Gospel: Mark 1:16-20 and Mark 3:13-19. These two fragments reflect an image of discipleship: the vocation, the conditions of the following, and the mission. To conclude, we present some theological reflections and an update at the beginning of this new millennium. Even for the present, it is important to do research in order to follow Jesus Christ as a disciple.
