Abstract

In a recent publication, Ricker (1977) gave integral representations for his generating, displacement, velocity, and acceleration functions pertaining to the propagation of a seismic pulse in a visco‐elastic medium. These functions are solutions of the Stokes wave equation in one dimension, and were given by Ricker as infinite integrals of oscillatory functions. Here these integrals are transformed into finite integrals of an integrand which is usually one‐signed, and these new integrals are readily evaluated by simple numerical quadrature (e.g., Simpson's rule), and are easily evaluated to high precision. Some numerical results are given and compared with Ricker’s tables.
