Abstract

The assessment and calculation of perceptible vibration and ground-borne noise from the operation of railway tunnels are discussed. The data and methodologies reported include material obtained by the authors in studies of the operation and construction of the proposed 108 km long high speed railway link between London and the Channel Tunnel which include an 18 km long tunnel beneath residential areas in London.
